Flying thousands of hours in their specially modified aircraft, aerial photographers Jay and Jan Roode have spent more than a decade photographing some of the most remote and spectacular wilderness areas of Southern Africa from above.
The continent of Africa has always held an irresistible allure and fascination for them, and they seem content only when free to wander the skies capturing images that invoke a sense of awe to the natural wonders of the region.
Aerial Art, their recently published book is the culmination of a remarkable journey; a vibrant collection of wild and enchanting images that are instantly recognisable by their unique style and approach. Their images convey an intimacy and reverence for the wilderness that reflects their deep passion for the conservation and preservation of the enthralling landscapes they have flown over.
Their photography has been widely published in magazines, including Africa Geographic, National Geographic Travel, Geo, BBC Wildlife, Smithsonian Natures Best, CNN, Wild Travel and the United Nations Environmental Programme publications to name a few. Their images have received commendations in both local and international photographic competitions.
Today Jan and Jay Roode continue documenting Africa from above, and offer bespoke aerial safaris taking visitors to unique locations they have discovered during their travels.
The Kruger Self-Drive 2nd Edition is the best resource for anyone exploring the Kruger National Park on their own. It is beautifully laid out with lovely pictures and a lot of information about the different areas of the park. My favourite part of the book is the individual write ups on each of the roads which are very informative. I am very pleased I bought it and know that I am going to have many hours of happy exploring with it.
The Kruger self drive book is highly informative. I look forward to using it in the park, and trying out some of the exciting hot spot routes. My excitement level is in overdrive. I can’t wait.
A wonderful book. Print quality is outstanding and some amazing pictures. Every road in the park is listed with great write ups. The routes are great, with detailed distances and travel times. Highly recommend.
