The black-chested snake-eagle in all its glory

During one of our trips to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, we had a wonderful opportunity to photograph the behaviour of a black-chested snake-eagle at the Nossob Camp waterhole. Following a few days of good rain, a large puddle of water had collected around the man-made waterhole which provided perfect photographic opportunities. The bird initially landed at the waterhole and walked up and down surveying the surroundings. It then approached the water and started drinking.
